And was forced to leave Bangkok in the same evening.

Awaiting anxiously for any good news

Thanks for the update. I took the MRT to Phanhoyuthin MRT Station at around 11.30hr. The water level varied from 15cm athe centre lane of the road. Pick-ups and buses were able to navigate their way through only at the centre lane
I did not try to go back to my apartment at Soi 21, Phanhonyuthin by wading through the murky water

Would appreciate your continuing update to time my return to Bangkok again.

It's important to distinguish between reports of the government's general failure in its response, which are quite obvious, and slanted rhetoric by anti-gov folks who still are mad that democracy actually determined a Thai election result for once. To the credit of the BP and Nation, they are reporting on how unchecked development and illegal drainage blocking have contributed to the problem. To their discredit, they are still employing "journalists" like Thanong, who never checked a fact in his life.

I quite like Thai PBS' coverage. It seems the least sensational and the most probing. Dr Seri never speaks in absolutes, and stays above the FROC-BMA fray.

Anyway thanks for making this update. Should be seen by more people.

It would be interesting to see you delve into the alleged order not to discharge water from the dams! The royal irrigation project itself stated that this was a lie yet you keep bringing it up!
The whole issue here is where the water is and how fast it is moving.
Bhangkhrinsri where i live is dry, however, Charan sanit wong 35 is wet from about soi 17. The water is moving incredibly slowly having moved 6M in the last 60 hours and is only a few cm deep at its head. most water seems to be seeping up through drains.
60% of my village is going to stay flood or no flood: we are well organised and do not need to rely on central or local government except for dire emergencies.

<em>Hi Lynn, thank you for your kind comments. I admire the fact that you are actually in a flooded area and you remain calm and rational (can't be easy with a secondary flood of 'scare-mongering' news alerts swirling about).

I hope that you and the multitudes of others affected by this flood get relief soon and also that afterwards some critical changes are made to prevent, or diminish a re-occurrence of this scale (hope 'springs' eternal...)
